Description of Products for Trade Inquiry
Our Karashi Renkon features crispy lotus root with a pungent kick of spicy miso, providing a crunchy texture and a zesty sensation that tingles the nose.

Karashi Renkon, a local dish from Kumamoto, is said to have originated when the then lord of Kumamoto, Lord Tadatomi Hosokawa, was in poor health. To offer a unique and nutritious dish, miso was stuffed into lotus roots planted around the castle moat and presented to him. Additionally, due to the lotus root's cross-sectional resemblance to the Hosokawa family crest (Nine Days' Crest), it was considered a secretive delicacy and not widely circulated.
